I know people who own a skip company and they dont't drop off skips unless paid for, the exception being people who have accounts

There have been cases where people have refused to pay for a skip and the skip company have taken the skip away and left the contents on the drive (other companies)

as b-t says the skip is theirs the contents are yours, be careful and try to reach a compromise (offer 50% and see how you go)

    youtube skip video
    baldly going on...
  • I have some sympathy with the skip company but that vanished when they tried to make out that I had ordered the skip which is just nonesense and I suspect that the builder has in fact paid them. (I had use dthis company before and they insisted on being paid in advance but the builder was supposed to use them a lot so he may have had an account. Makes me suspicious that they claim they don't know the guy.) anyway, if anyone would like a free skip in north London...

As the builder ordered them then the contract is between him and the skip company. Give the skip hire company another call and tell them to remove the skips from your property including the waste in them, if they refuse let them know you will be contacting the Environment Agency (they issue the "waste carriers licence" to the skip company) and will report them for fly tipping. And watch as the skips disappear.

I'll put money on it that they will dump the waste on the OP driveway if you go down this route simply because they have no legal responsibility to remove the waste if they haven't been paid.

Ring the skip company and see if you can negotiate a discounted rate.
  • Hmm. No. I am starting to sue the Builder and am charging him rent as of 4 weeks ago at £ 10 per day.

Best of luck trying to enforce anything against the builder. You will probably end up spending more in legal fees than if you just paid the skip company.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.

the small claims court fees are fairly small and are added to the losers bill.
you shouldnt need to pay any lawyers fees at all.

Out of interest, how will you justify the cost of £10 per day to the court? Whilst you've been inconvenienced somewhat, what have been your actual costs?

Well they must be taking up at least one parking space...and in London,£10 a day sounds cheap to me!
