in Credit cards
Hi, I got rejected for Sainsburys in December. Thinking of appealing so I don't have to use another credit search against my name applying for a different card.
Anyone done this successfully?
Thanks

I successfully appealed against a rejection by capital one several years ago.
Basically sent them a letter explaining how I was an excellant credit risk, and that they have obviiusly made a mistake. Got the card a few weeks later0 -
I appealed aginst Capital One's decision to turn me down for the 18 month 0% card in November.
I wrote a letter explaining a couple of things that might have worried them on my credit report - e.g. not on electoral role yet as moved house recently.
I didn't hear back from them so I wrote again at the beginning of January and got a letter last week asking me to call them.
I phoned and they queried my balance transfer request - they had picked up on the fact that I wanted to transfer more than was the credit limit on my Egg card!
I managed to explain my way out of it, and they then said they would give me the card, however the 18 month one was not available any more so the best they could offer was 9 months. The icing on the cake was that because they had taken so long to process the appeal, my original application had expired so I would have to reapply, recording another search on my files, and she couldn't guarantee 100% that the application would be successful!
I would therefore suggest that if you do appeal you follow it up fairly soon otherwise they might make you reapply, even if your appeal is successful.0
