I looked on line and switched my electricty to npower back to July 2008 - I have never received a bill or confirmation of this until after I moved out of the house I was occupying and now they are trying to charge me from July 2008 to October 2009 when I vacated the premises - can they do this.

If you owe the money then yes if they have tried to contact you
Why didnt you pick up and ring them before hand your as much to blame as they are for not sorting this out0 -
Let us know how you get on. My situation is similar in that I am living in a house and I have an electricity supplier. The only difference is that I get bills. If you don't have to pay, it would be really unfair if I had to pay based on the technicality that I get bills. Here's hoping. Best of luck to you.jack_russell_lady wrote: »I looked on line and switched my electricty to npower back to July 2008 - I have never received a bill or confirmation of this until after I moved out of the house I was occupying and now they are trying to charge me from July 2008 to October 2009 when I vacated the premises - can they do this.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you switched, confirmation or otherwise, you should pay for the electricity you used, as it's unlikely the previous supplier you had charged you for it. If they DID charge you for it, then phone them, get them to check the suppliers database for electricity and they'll be able to give you the date you purportedly moved to nPower. Make sure you haven't been double charged - if your previous company charged you for this time frame, they'll refund it to you and you can use this to pay all/some of the nPower balance. Hope that helps
