Yes, of course.
It's not an overcharge though so no chance of a freebie ;)

You can imagine the scene at the CS Desk.

'Excuse me, I think i've been undercharged for this product, do I get it for free?'

:rotfl:
I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!

Can I resurrect this please, has no one ever managed to stop the daily call from running but still got the phone as functional?

What if you upgrade the kernel and possibly OS on the phone, will it still make a daily call? (i.e. is it a piece of hardware inside the phone that makes it call a number?)
• my mum has brought me one of these for xmas, and not sure whether I want it now or not.

we found it cheap in tesco, and she asked if i wanted one for xmas. Looked a gd deal, but didnt realise we had to pay an ongoing fee for it, just thought I could use it as a normal fone, and if I did extra things with it, i would pay as i did it, not have a continual fee.

Can anyone please confirm, u have to pay a fee? or is there a way of using it free?

It's nothing to do with technology - it's a business model. Just like offering you a "free" mobile phone to tie you into a contract. The unit is subsidised by the usage charge.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.
• The charges are listed on the box, the wrapper of the manual (which you have to use to install the machine) and in the manual itself.

You can change the polling to weekly, so it costs 20p a week instead of 20p a day. That's in the manual too, but if you didn't read it to find out the charges you won't have seen that either.
• I have rescued an Amstrad E3 emailer (model no EH3002) from the dustbin! It is in good nick, but does not have the power supply / transformer. I cannot find the technical details ANYWHERE for this transformer. Can anyone out there tell me what the voltage is and other details i.e. rating, AC/DC or even better where to get one??? Thanks a lot - Broadscot (broadscot@msn.com)

hi - hope this helpful.
go to www.amstrad.com for details.

phone 0161 654 1400 ext.1502.

i have the emailer plus - can understand why someone might throw it in bin = great in lots of ways - not in others!!.

i've found their cusstomer services singularly unhelpful so good luck.
ebay often have emailer items listed.
cheers,

I just plugged my one in after it being in the loft for over a year....
It does not seem to set the time any more and checking the web portal I have two emails.

One a year old saying they are now Sky and a new one saying the following....
Dear Amstrad e-m@iler user

We are sorry to advise that as a result of operational changes we are no longer able to provide the full e-m@ailer service and therefore a number of the features of your e-m@ailer unit will cease to function.

All units will receive a configuration change between 30th June 2011 and 14th July 2011 which will mean that the following features (if present on the model of e-m@ailer you own) will no longer be available after this configuration change has taken place:

- Email (Please note that you will still be able to access and view any emails stored on the e-m@ailer prior to the end date.)
- Any registration alterations
- SMS
- Amsurf internet
- Games download (Please note that you will still be able to access and play any games stored on the e-m@ailer prior to the end date.
Anything deleted will be irretrievable and time limited games will expire.)
- Ringtone download (Please note that you will still be able to access any ringtones stored on the e-m@ailer prior to the end date.
Anything deleted will be irretrievable.)
- All dial up services (e.g. tarot, pranks etc.)
- Copymail
- Automatic setting of the date and time (Please note you can still set this manually.)
- Internet access to your email account
- After care telephone support

As a result of these changes your e-m@ailer will no longer make daily calls to the service to check for emails.

The following features will still function after this time:

- Video calls (from E3 to E3 videophones)
- Telephone
- Caller display (if you subscribe via your telephone provider)
- Voicemail
- Address book
- Printer settings (with compatible printers)
- Calculator

Please do not reply to this email. If you have any questions or concerns please contact our customer support team by telephone on 01277 208213 or by emailing emailer@bskyb.com before 30th June 2011.

Kind regards
