ive got some soil on freecycle at the mo, think someone is supposed to be coming on tue to collect. its got quite a bit of grass in as its from where we dug up lawn, but its good soil..
Does your local council offer free compost from garden waste recycling? Ours does so I imagine most either offer it free or at a small charge
Just for heads up for anyone in the Teesside area the Stockton Recycling Center on Haverton Hill Road(otherwise known as "the tip") are offering free soil improver limited to 4 bags per person/household. Current offer applies from1-7th May
Be careful with cheap "topsoil" from councils or building companies. Often this is actually reclaimed soil, at best poor quality, at worst carrying diseases.
This can be the case and it's worth being careful as earthlysparky states. Cheap topsoil can be bought online from various companies, one of which is Hallstone Direct who comply to strict recycling regulations to ensure topsoil safety. Check this out first before buying from such suppliers.
