You are probably correct is suggesting the company is 'OK', but I am assuming that your assertion is from an operational perspective as opposed to their recruitment style.
Are you suggesting then that because of the 'current work market' this gives a company carte blanche to treat job applicants with utter contempt? That seems somewhat illogical to me.
You have also stated that my experience was 'not particularly bad' - well, I would suggest that it was not particularly good either.
I had an interview a couple of years ago with our local council, and I got to the second interview stage in which I was unsuccessful, but their procedures were excellent. Although some councils are criticised for their selection processes (i.e. not what you know but who), I was content in the manner the recruitment process was undertaken.
From notification of the first interview to receiving constructive feedback immediately after the second was faultless and I was impressed by the organisation, interview procedures and communication which was in stark contrast to my recent experience.
Using your viewpoint, does that mean when the 'current job market' improves, employers and recruiters will improve their recruitment procedures?
I have vented my spleen over this and I have accepted the outcome and moved on, but in this day and age where contact can be made by various means in a matter of seconds, there is really no excuse not to contact only TWO people immediately after an interview prior to readvertising the role on the internet.0 -
I see where onlyforboards is coming from. I am sorry to hear you have had a bad experience, I have been in a similiar position with two job interviews very recently and posted a thread about it not long ago. I went for an interview and was kept waiting about 4 weeks for the outcome. I was sent 3-4 re-assuring e mails in that time apologising for the delay and telling me a decision was imminent. The last e mail I got was 17th March and still no news so I followed up last Tuesday with an e mail asking if they'd made a decision yet. No response at all.
I can't believe the firm had the courtesy to send me the e mails whilst they were deciding but nothing now. At least you did get the formal letter in the end, even if it wasn't the same day you expected a response.
I was made redundant in December and was really hopeful this job was going to get me back on track but am back to square one.
