I have just phoned area supplier about 2 poles on my land. Hope the girl as it right but she said I could apply for 6 year back rent around £120 and rent about £10 per pole a year after,( have lived here 7 years) or I could write asking from them to be removed:j. I am surprised I always was under the impression getting them to remove them would be hard work. Am I missing something here. I also have telephone pole on land am I entilted to rent for this or can I ask for that also to be removed.

No you can't get them removed if they were there before you moved in.

You will have agreed to them when you purchased the property, did you solicitor make you aware of them in the pre-contract enquries?

something about bt in papers nothing about electric
  • http://www.berr.gov.uk/files/file23024.pdf gives some clear guidance on this.

You can have them removed from your land, however if they are supplying the electricity to your own property then this will be removed as well. There may be a charge to re-supply you.
