i have my PC upstairs and my 360 downstairs i have the virgin modem and netgear router connected and then i ran a long cat5 cable to the downstairs, i did this as the 360 dongle is awful for any distance thus i have it hard wired.

the new one is a bit better, but you're right its all about hard wired gaming. I managed to find a 20m ethernet cable in a skip that did the job :)

Homeplug - or similar is widely available at places like Maplins on through eBay. Will cost the same as a wireless router but far easier to set up and won't need a wireless adapter for the Xbox either.

But if you want to be able to use the internet on the computer while your son is on his xbox you'll still need the router in combination with the homeplug.
  • best way to connect a xbox 360 is with the network plugs, wirelessly you get a lot of lag.

    how can it be dangerous?

    :j

people could trip over it, if its just the 1 person in the house then maybe it wouldn't be much of a hazard but if theres multiple people then its possible it could be a hazrd, the only way to get round it would be to route the cable on the outside of the rooms eg where the landline phone cable would go
