in Credit cards
Hi guys, great site which has saved us hundreds of pounds already!
I need a little advice - I have a visa credit card with Close Brothers Private Bank, which is issued by Brown, Shipley & Co Ltd - I have a good credit limit with it and the introductory rate has been good. I am now 3 weeks from the end of the honeymoon period and have just tried to transfer the balance to my Mint card but they are saying that they cannot accept transfers from this card. Sainsburys and Halifax have said the same. Any ideas on what I can do?
My only idea at the moment is to transfer £2000 from sainsburys to Mint (both cards currently have zero balances) and then close the Sainsburys card in the hope that they will issue a cheque. Does anyone have experience of this or know if it would work?
Many thanks.

If you have a credit balance of £2000 on a Sainsburys card, they won't return a cheque if it's that much - the funds would need to be returned to the source (ie the Mint card).
You could in theory withdrawl cash from either the Sainsburys or Mint card, but you'll probably be paying a slightly higher rate of interest than a balance transfer, and also have to pay the cash handling fee (ie 2-3%).
You could have a look at a personal loan if you can't afford to pay the card off in full.0
