Redundancy question, bit of advice needed!

I'll try & make this as brief as possible
The company I work for as a driver are restructuring & this means there will be job losses.
There are currently 2 distinct driving "jobs" A & B.
Job A: Monday to Friday, late starts/late finishes & normal bank holidays.
Job B: Tuesday to Saturday, early starts/early finshes & bank holiday working with days in lieu.
Under the plans job B is no longer needed, the remaining jobs are all Job A & the company have basically made all drivers redundant & asked we all reaply for a job.
Positions will be allocated using a points system based on length of service, sick days etc... this scuppers me as I have only been there for 18 months.
I have only ever done Job A, in fact I was told at interview that the job I applied for was Job A, but I've heard I don't have enough points to be offered a job... my job will be given to a Job B driver with longer service.
This is leaving me feeling a bit peeved, my job isn't being made redundant! There are Job A positions & I'm a Job A driver so why am I being made redundant so another driver can have my job?
I've raised the issue at work & the reply was "You're all drivers" which is fair enough but the company itself has split the driving roles into 2, which to me makes them different jobs!
I realise I'm probably clutching at straws but is this right?
Thanks for any input

Normal. Unless you are registered with a trade union you have no leg to stand on. This is normal and happening alot.
See it the other way.
The company see's all employers as drivers. Does not matter if A or B.
If you were the 10 years employee and was told that an 18 month worker got the job? How would you feel?
It does'nt matter if you work 10 years or 1 month, being redundant is not great at all.
Unfortunately, the economy has'nt actually picked up at all.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'
