My daughter needs an mp3 player. I’ve noticed I can get a cheapee at 7dayshop.com using sd memory cards, which would allow her to build her collection of songs on sd cards, as necessary. Can anyone advise the pros and cons of this option, which seems to me to be quite a cheap method?

The size and looks don't seem to be a problem,

If thats the only downside it will do for me. Anyone any experience of using one?

I have the same mp3 player from ebuyer and it's actually pretty good. The ebuyer link is here.

It crashes occasionally, and the battery door is a bit fidgety, but other than that I can recommend it. The sound qulaity is very good, and it's very easy to use (luckily enough since the instructions are written in the dodgiest of Chinese English!)

Don't worry about software - if you have XP it is recognised as an extra drive as soon as you plug it on, so transferring mp3's back and forward is fairly easy. For something a bit more user friendly, I use Winamp with an extra plugin that allows me to transfer mp3's directly from the media library. (Winamp is free by the way, and much better than Windows Media Library)
