Halifax card applied for?

Hiya :-)
Just had an E-mail from Credit Expert telling me my file has changed. I logged on and it says that an application for a Halifax Credit Card has been performed in my name. I don't remember doing this, it was only two weeks ago, and I'm almost certain I didn't. Unless its an application for a different card I did, which sits under the Halifax name? The only one I can think of that I've tried recently is the Barclaycard Initial.
What, if anything, can I do/do I need to do? My credit rating is a bit crap anyway, so its unlikely to have been accepted, but even so its a bit annoying/worrying.
Do Halifax score people and then offer them the product if they are eligible and could that be whats happened here? I do have a bank account with them already. Surely they aren't allowed to do that though?
Cheers!

Hiya, definitely didn't apply for a Bank of Scotland card, and I'm pretty sure I also didn't apply for an Aqua card - I can't be certain. I know that sounds really odd, but I just don't remember for certain whether I did or not.
Ah well, I'll just see what happens!0 -
If you maybe applied for an Aqua (odd that you dont know) then this would show as a credit check from Halifax.0
