Dear Friend
Did you know that one in three children in school has special educational needs – with problems reading, writing, focussing or behaving? Just think what kind of future, and problems, that is going to create.
There is an alternative. Imagine what it would be like for schools to have the perfect nutrition, for the school grades to shoot up and children with problems to transform? Well, we have the opportunity to put this to the test in a primary school that has plenty of room for improvement. What’s more, the whole process of transformation is going to be filmed by ITV for transmission next year.
This is such a great opportunity to put everything we’ve learnt about optimum nutrition into practice, measure the results and tell everyone about it. What we want to achieve is, not only a transformation in children’s mental health, learning and behaviour, but also a sustainable ‘culture shift’ around food and its link to mental health for both the school, the children and their families.
Building on our experience at Cricket Green, a Special Educational Needs School (tune in for the half-way results on September 12th on GMTV’s LK Today show), we know what we need to do to make this work. It’s no small feat and, apart from improving the food and giving all children a multivitamin and essential fat supplements, we also involve all parents, children and teachers in a series of workshops over this nine month project. And at the end of the project the children will have their SATs (School Aptitude Tests) so we’ll be able to see the results in concrete terms that will mean something to Government and Local Education Authorities.
We’re going to need two things to be successful: some help and some money. The school is in Hampshire and we’ll need both some logistical help – anything from grinding seeds to general admin; and we’ll need some nutritionally oriented people who volunteer to be an ‘angel’ for a family, taking them shopping, and helping to show them how to make healthy food. If you’d like to help please email info@foodforthebrain.org, calling your email ‘VOLUNTEER’ and we’ll send you more details.
We’ve kept all the costs to an absolute minimum with generous donations of time, food and supplements, but we need to raise about £20,000 more. That’s means a minimum of 1,000 people giving £20 or more. Please be generous because if every other person decides someone else will chip in we won’t have the money to run this project. If you genuinely can’t afford it pass this email on to someone who can – perhaps your friends with children, or their grandparents.
To make a donation just click here and select the amount you’d like to donate. If you have already registered with us please log in firstand then make your donation, then when you hit 'register now' all your details will come up automatically.
Sincere thanks for any help you can give. Every little bit makes a difference.
