Hi
My brother chose to stay with British Gas when all the gas went up in price and chose the capped price until 2011 which seemed like a good thing at the time ~ so now the price has gone by quite a lot what is everyone doing regarding this? he says he would have to pay about £100 to buy himself out of the contract but I would have thought as he was a British Gas customer anyway and chose to stay with them he could have just gone on to the cheaper tariff.
Has anyone else done this?
Thanks

Have a capped tariff is always a risk, people buy into it for peace of mind only, not because its necessary cheap.
I stick with a Internet based tariff as they tend to be cheapest0 -
He may want to consider the WebSaver6 tariff if he has access to a computer and is happy to view his bills online instead of in the post. He will have to pay the £70 Gas and £30 Elec exit fees, but the rate is lower on the WebSaver6 tariff so he will most likely recoup that quickly. WebSaver6 is a tracker tariff as opposed to a Fixed Price, meaning the price will be 6% lower than standard, and will go up and down according with standard price movements.0
