Moral dilemma - what would you do?

Just wondered - I know what I'm going to do, but wondered what the general consensus is.

Buyer makes a purchase 10th March - sent 2nd class same day, so would have arrived by 17th march I guess.

Feedback left today, 31st March, saying that item is wrong for their needs. Admit is was their mistake on feedback too, not mine.

As this is an updated version of an item, I make it very clear which models it will not fit. Most people if in doubt still after reading the listing saying IT WILL NOT FIT....., send an email to check prior to purchase, but some still go ahead and buy. This buyer was one of those who made a boo boo.

They never contacted me to ask for a return. I would never have known about their mispurchase had it not been for the feedback.

Item costs £16.50, £1.50 postage, so not big bucks. Would you contact them and ask if they want to return?

I'd probably be feeling generous as they've admitted it's their error, so yes.

  • I think I'd end up taking pity on them too.

If the buyer is new to ebay then they might not have felt confident contacting you.

I suppose I would contact them and ask if they wanted to send it back. Then they may buy off me again for offering good customer service.
