New flat roof i need advice

Do i have to get the council involved [IE permission] . It is about 15ft x8ft . Any help at all would help me ,type of roof etc [i am a lady on my own]

The buildings regs require an application for replacement roofs, and you should upgrade thermal insulation if it is "reasonable, practical and not too costly to do so".
This wont apply if its a garage roof
Most people would not bother, and just do the work though.
A standard bitumen felt cover will last 10-15 years, but also consider EPDM (like rubber) which should last 20-25 years and be not much more money0 -

It would never have occurred to me to mention it to the Council. But, as ormus says, I would ensure that the insulation was as thick as could be put into the available space.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0
