    Hi guys,

Just thought I'd check in, Nothing much is happening here at the moment hence not posting much.

I've finally finished uni and just looking for a teaching job for September now. I know its hard and the competition is tough but I've sent off about six applications and had no replies yet. All I want is a job! I seem to be spending £££ on diesel and stamps and print cartridges and half the schools don't have the decency to reply. It seems almost everyone else from my degree has a job now. I'm just a bit worried that all the good ones will have gone.

I also need to move house in about five weeks. My amazing boss has said I can stay at hers during the summer. Which is good because I don't really want to sign a contract for a flat and then get a job at the other side of the city.

Ahhhhh it was great to get that out!
There are many things in life that will catch your eye, only a few will catch your heart. Pursue those.

Good luck! Having bad tenants is awful! with past experience, I can sympathise, although we chose a different avenue to resolve the problem and still managed to avoid court. :rotfl:

Did it involve baseball bats? :rotfl: Sorry, shouldn't really joke about that... Our tenant refuses to make any contact with the lettings agency, despite them offering him several times to come up with a payment plan. We suspect he never had any intention to pay when he moved in  We're on at 12.30 so fingers crossed the section 8 to get him out was served correctly and all the paperwork is in order, if so the courts can't fail to send this guy packing as he owes us close to £2k now.

Hugs Chika and the very best of luck. I think job and house hunting are two of the toughest things to do but I'm sure it will work out with you having a great job and a lovely place to live *crosses fingers*. :) Edit: Congratulations on finishing uni!!! That's fantastic!

Best of luck Lynda!!!! Really hope your tenant has to cough up - it's so unfair. Keep us posted on how it goes - good luck representing yourself. Have my fingers crossed for you!

  • Hello everybody.:wave:Does anyone remember me still after so many months having been AWOL? :) I am quite chuffed that I manage to post in here after so many months on end, turbulent months - financially, emotionally, physically.

I see that the thread has grown in member numbers but I think I have the impression that a lot of last years members are not posting as much? Update please! I have lost track of going ons, last time I had a proper look was 6-7 months ago.:o

Last but definitely not least I OWE A HUGE APOLOGY TO SOPHIESMUM AND BRIGHTONBELLE because I did not reply to the pm's to thank them as I should have for all the valuable info they have sent me on being a carer. Sorry ladies, hope you forgive me.:( Your help has been invaluable at that stage when I was lost, still am but dont tell anyone!

I will give an update on my Mother's condition which basically gives away what has been happening with my life as well since last October. She has survived the ordeal, had a brief spell at a rehabilitation centre for 2 weeks, still paralysed and clasified as tetraplegic, I am caring for her at home, is having physio every day and speech therapy. I am grateful that I have not lost her. Let me tell you that caring for a parent is hard work both mentally and physically but worth every second of it. I now have a slipped disc due to the constant demands on my back but nothing that cannot be sorted.

It is absolutely true that such a major health scare either glues a family together or breaks them apart. Unfortunately in our case it is the latter that has happened but I hope I will last the course to see her walk again. I am exhausted lost a huge amount of weight and feel isolated and alone but I must plod on.

Watch out your health guys together with the pennies and enjoy every single day of your life. Apologise if you must for something that you have done and tell someone you love that you do love them if you have not done it for a long time.

I am not participating in the challenge this year as there is not time to record everything but I follow the basic principles with shopping and overall expenditure. I hope I will be able to come on line a bit more often now that I have small pockets of free time in our schedule as her health has stabilised a bit. Be nice people.;)

  • Let me add that I still remember with fondness and immense gratitude all the good wishes and prayers that you had sent my way last October when my Mother was critical and not doing at all well. I will always treasure your heartfelt response guys. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN!:T I firmly believe that it had something to do with her avoiding the danger, having people send good energy your way when in need of help does help.

    HI frunchkins

I remember you 2TR, what a really hard time you and your Mum have had. These things are hard on the whole family I always think. Do try to take care of yourself - it's not being selfish to do that and put yourself first. After all, you'll be no use to anybody if you don't keep yourself in full working order! Hugs to you anyway and hope you continue to stay strong ... am thinking good thoughts for your Mum too. xxx

I'm not sure if shingles will end up being expensive or or not :D - I might have to live off the freezer and storecupboard for a while as I'm feeling too weak and wobbly to go out. I know there are people who would do errands for me but would rather not exhast that option unless I REALLY need it. On the other hand I am BORED, something I haven't experienced in years! I've haven't bought anything from Ebay etc for ages, have been very good at sticking to essentials only. So I need to find a cure for boredom that doesn't demand energy or money lol!

I've done my sums and including the trip away, expensive medicines etc I have spent a grand total of €3506.26/€10,000 this year. So am doing ok really. But I have to be very careful as my circumstances are subject to change - some good, some not so good. I would like to save a bit of money although I do have an loan and really I should chuck any spare cash at that. But I think having a financial safety net would be worth the bit of extra interest I'd pay on the loan. Soooo, am going to try to trim a wee bit extra off my living expenses and put it in regular savings. Here's to belt-tightening!

Hope you're all well and hugs to anyone who'd like one! :)

Hi all, good news as the tenant didn't even turn up, so there's now an order on its way to him saying that he has to leave within 14 days and pay the rent that he owes us. Lets hope he takes notice! I was expecting it to be quite scary, but it was just us and the magistrate, and he was nice to us :-)

2TR, good to see you back and I hope that you are still managing to find some time to look after yourself as well as caring for your Mum.

NualaBuala, can you sign up for any survey sites? It may not be all that regular, but doing surveys and compatitions might relieve some of the boredom...

Hugs to all who needs one x

2TR - all the best with looking after your mum, you know she is having the best possible care.

lyndasharp - I hope my friend has as much success as you, I'll tell her about you tomorrow as a little glimmer of hope for her next week. She is in the same situation.

The sunshine for the past 3 days has brought the garden on, I wish I had more space. I had to let 1/2 of the lotty grass over as I just couldn't keep up while DH was ill first 6 years ago then 3 years ago. I had to work full time and do all the school runs etc whist he couldn't drive. He is able to dig now so I've covered it with carpet and black plastic (opened out compost bags) so it should be digable soon and I might get some late things in.

Very inexpensive pasta bake for tea followed by more garden rhubarb and custard.

Another £25 win on the premium bonds, better than nothing but just for once I should like to wi more than the minimum.
Doing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me

NualaBuala - just a quickie to say I'm so sorry to hear about the shingles - not a nice thing to have. No wonder you've been feeling so rough.

Take care of yourself, will be thinking of you.
