As far as I'm aware, there is no rule about this. The warranty is purely at the discretion of the manufacturer - they can define the terms as they like. If they say it's ended after a year, irrespective of the number of repairs, then it ends after a year.
However, your rights under the Sale of Goods Act do not end then. In England you have up to 6 years to make a claim against the supplier if the product fails due to an inherent fault. As you've had it more than 6 months, it will be down to you to demonstrate the fault, so you may need to get a qualified person to inspect it and confirm that it is faulty.
Note that you need to take this up with the company that sold the product to you, not the manufacturer.
There's a very good guide to the SOGA here.0 -
Please tell us what laptop you bought........
.............so we can all avoid buying one.
Demand a replacement as they have clearly sold you something unfit for purpose.
Don't take any bull about one year warranty only.0 -
