Ebay item , customer has not received

I posted an item maybe around 2 weeks ago, honestly can't remember, item was sent abroad and I promised myself I wouldn't do this again as had to refund for another item last year which I did send, I've asked them to give it another week but I know they will get the money back, I have nearly 400 feedbacks all at 100% so have always been reliable, know I'm lucky this is only the 2nd time but it's always the items that I send abroad, I keep the post office receipts for around a week and then bin them, very foolish I know.

Has ebay changed their system since I last had this problem or are they once again going to be in favour of the buyer.
Thanks

  • Where did you send the item? I find that items seem to get 'lost' going to Italy so am wary of posting anything there.

    Did you use standard airmail?

  • I think it was for Estonia, can't remember if it was standard, it must have been, this happened when I sent something to Thailand last year, it's just frustrating because I know as soon as they inform e-bay it will come off my paypal amount.

I totally understand how it must feel if you don't receive an item but I know it was clearly addressed and sent by correct mail.

Op, was this airmail or surface mail? as most surface mail has been dodgy all month

taken from the daily Royal Mail service updates (I subscribed when the strikes were on)

The Finnish Port workers strike has now ceased and the backlog cleared. Economy mail services will be despatched as normal from today - Wednesday 31st March

If you cannot show that the items have arrived then yes it will be 'in favour of the buyer' as it should be. They have paid money and it is the seller's responsibility to deliver the goods. Turn the situation around - if you were a buyer who had paid and received nothing you would be wanting your money back. As far as I know this has always been the case.

It is unfortunate that you no longer have the CoPs. Really a week is far too short a time to keep them. If something goes missing you are unlikely to hear about in that time. Hopefully the buyer will agree to allow a few more days and it will arrive in that time.

You'll have to put this down to experience, I'm afraid, but we've all learned from things like this. It makes us much more careful in the future!

Yiu should be keeping your proof of posting for 6 months. Not only does it give you cover for up to £39 for loss you need to keep it in case of a credit card chargeback which can be up to 6 months. A fraudelant use of a CC can be easily defended by proof of posting through paypal so you need to keep them.

Yes you will have to refund if the item hasn't arrived. If you'd kept the POP though you would have been able to claim off RM for your loss

It's not exactly in the favour of the buyer, if you can't even prove you've sent it, or even remember when you sent it.
