Amex Electronic Statements - very easy to understand

I've just had my Amex statement, received the electronic notification and logged it to check it. Wow- how clear it that, beautifully laid out and easy to understand. Direct Debit payment collection date clearly showing so I know exactly the date they will be taking the full balance. Lots of lovely cashback for doing nothing.
I'm impressed, I know not everybody likes Amex (or accepts it) but their documentation and customer services have so far been outstanding.
Amex gets a big thumbs up !

Seconded.
Statements are clear, customer service fantastic, and accepted pretty much everywhere these days.0 -
The cashback is also itemised per transaction0

I like Amex statements too - they've been as clear as they are now since I first had an Amex card in 2003. Only down side is the Direct Debit comes out 2-3 weeks before payment is due, so I don't have one, and make a manual payment every month to clear the card 4 days before the payment due date. Also very generous credit limits!0

I think Amex quality is falling down.0

Not really a problem if you set up your statement dates and pay in full each month. Due date is irrelevant really, just set up DD and use as a charge card.

hmmm........I can see the benefits BUT
in my case the payment date is really close to my wages going in.
Switch gets credited in ONE DAY.
So it's much better for me to pay by switch because DD date seems to be variable and there's a possibility it could come out before I get paid.
Now I could ask them to move my statement date a little, but it's just easier to pay by switch each month especially as it's so QUICK.0 -

I had the same problem so moved my statement date to a point where the DD is after my salary gets paid. The DD is variable but will never come before a set date. Personally I find this works really well for both my cards as they are settled automatically. Without a DD there is always the chance of forgetting or being late. Being quick makes no difference with a DD. All I have to do is ensure sufficient funds in my account for the DD to draw then I don't worry about due dates etc.
I love to be organised enough to juggle money and pay at the last minute but really I can't be bothered so setting up a DD at the right time is a very easy solution.0 -

Not for me there isn't.
I track every penny daily.
I did have a problem with moving statement dates before (can't remeber which company - wan't AMEX). I got charged interest (which I later got waived) as a result.
I'm not going to keep the card (will cancel after cashback), so TBH it's not worth it for me, but I do agree for MOST people it's a good idea.
I'm just incredibly well organised with all my spreadsheets and accounts checked on a daily basis (yes you could call it OTT if you liek).0 -
However if you pay manually you can keep hold of the money for an extra 2 weeks before you pay Amex and earn more interest on it!0

Yes, you jsut ahve to remember that YOU are responsible for rembering, because the costs of a late payment will far outweigh any interest.
For most people DD is better as it's less risk.
If you are organised then it's not an issue.
I used to pay mine by BACS for years before DD became common and I never once made a late payment, because it became automatic to doit at payday.0
