  • Could be wrong as I'm not too familiar with that engine but it sounds as if it may be the crank pulley to the fan belt or serpentine belt, and these are commonly decoupled, ie, they have a rubber damping element within the pulley than can shear, perish or crack etc. At that price it probably is, ;)

I have checked with the garage what they ment. It seems to them that the fan belt is worn, which I disagree with them. It is less than 2 years old and doesn't look worn to me at all

I know that pulley you are talking about! I had a saga with another dealer when the timing belt was replaced about two years ago. They have fitted an upgraded when as the old design had issues!

    Many thanks

Say thankyou & take it to a local garage & get the jobs done for half that price.

Front discs & pads parts under £60, 1 hour to fit easy.
Rear Shoes £15, 1 hour fit easy.
    Ford hourly charge £70 hour?

I would be a bit wary of partially worn. If they fit new ones they will also be partially worn by the time you get home.

Pipes will vary, some are a pain to replace.

    Get a 2nd opinion.
