Employer forgot to transfer wages !!!!!

Am paid on last working day of the month by bank transfer, had wage slip today, went to cash point...no wages in bank, told employer..very vague over reason why it could of happened...appears reason is ''forgot to push button to release''....but it appears everyone else has got their wages.....has said she has now contacted her bank by phone as internet baning was down...and had to transfer by phone so will not reach my account until 7th April!! is going t give me £100 of it in cash tomorrow....the other £600 I'll have to wait a week for!!!
Similar thing happened last year...aptly internet banking was down so we all got paid by cheque on the day we were due to be paid...consequently it took another week for chqs to clear.
Have I got any rights regarding this?
It is a small business...employer owns two childrens day nurseries employing approx 20 staff in total.

I would have thought that employer is legally / contractually bound (you do have a contract of employment don't you?) to pay you correct salary on agreed date. Not to do so is possibly a breach of contract and breach of trust.
Given that it is a small employer, I would try the personal approach first and let employer know in no uncertain terms that they have caused a great amount of inconvenience. In addition, I would think that if you incurred loss or expense due to their negligence i.e. not paying you on time has caused you to incur bank charges, etc due to Direct Debits failing, etc that you could claim these back from them too.DFW'er - Lightbulb moment : 31st July 2009 - £18,499

Thinking of spending???..YNAB says "NO!!!!"0 -
My current company is very similar to that. Our payday is 8th of the month and apparently as long as it leaves the company's bank on the 8th, then they are not breaking any contracts. Sometimes I don't end up getting my wages until 12/13 of the month! According to my employer though its all legit!0

Don't have contracts....even though staff have asked for them.....I've worked there for 16yrs and most other staff are long serving too.0

You do have a contract but if you have not had it in writing it is the statutory terms for holiday, sick pay etc
If your pay is causing you financial difficulty (ie bank charges) then you would have the right to claim these back from the employer for causing thisAlways ask ACAS0 -
OK....My wages are supposed to be in my bank on Wednesday 7th April.....employer now on holiday for 2wks......what do I do if they still arent paid into my Bank?0

I think I would contact ACAS for advice.0

Or even ask whoever in charge in the absence of your employer to authorise full payment to you, if it were me i'd be on my employers back 24/7 wanting my wages if i hadnt received them. I would also goto ACAS too.0

If you have not been paid I would be talking to whoever sorts out the payroll and explain that you need a loan (interest free!) to bridge the gap until paydayAlways ask ACAS0

Let's be more accurate here shall we? OP is already lending employer her whole wage. So it is just repayment of some of that loan and not before it is due.If you have not been paid I would be talking to whoever sorts out the payroll and explain that you need a loan (interest free!) to bridge the gap until payday
