Homebase gift vouchers

I have £50 worth of Homebase gift vouchers that my children were given as gifts to decorate their bedrooms. I went to Homebase today to be told that because they are "spend and save" vouchers they are no longer valid. They have no expiry date and it says Homebase stores ltd on the back. Surely they have a obligation to take these vouchers.

    Homebase discontinued Spend and Save in favour of Nectar in May 2009.
    This illustrates the problems with hanging on to vouchers for so long.
