I have paperwork and receipts for a loan from pc world with HFC Bank from march 2002. The protection insurance box has a cross in it which means i applied for cover.
I was working for a bank at the time and have never taken insurance out with loans previously.
Is this agreement too old for me to try and reclaim?

Thanks to all for the advice. I will get on with the paperwork.

  • Hi
I have just claimed, successfully, for a loan I had with them taken out in 2002. It took a week thats all. Obviously, they did not admit any liability but offered me 2,600.

    Hi there

I would certainly give it a go with your reasons, nothing surprises me if these were automatically ticked, so go for it.

It is three years from the time that you realised that this was a problem.

  • Make sure you work out exactly how much you are owed including the 8% interest on all payments from the date they were paid. Don't just accept the offer they make if it is not what you know you require.

I have a loan with HFC that I took out in 2004, and paid PPI on it that I do not believe was sold to me with my best interests in mind. I filled in the template letter and sent it off, and within 5 days I had a letter back from HFC saying the usual garbage about "we do not accept these allegations and believe we acted in your best interests" blah blah....
"however, as a gesture of good will, we would like to offer you £2,659"

Yeah, not feeling guilty at all huh?

This was considerably more than I was expecting, and included 8% interest for the last 6 years. Was very pleased.

Anyway, thank you Martin Lewis, I can now use this to pay off some of my other debts and start to get myself sorted financially.

Now to start work on all those bank charges..... :)
