Paypal - 30 days to refund?

Just got off the phone to Paypal. We received a credit from the Ebay seller after goods were returned. However, Paypal have just told us that it can take up to 30 days for the refund to be refunded from Paypal into our bank account.
So they sit accumulating interest on £330 of our money!
Is this the norm? Any way around it?

I refunded a buyer twice (non-verified payments) recently and he told me the refunds hadn't appeared in his account and could take a some days. He held back feedback until the money had come back to him. (Fair enough)My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I just can not believe that they are entitled to hold onto money for up to 30 days. The refund came through on the 1st August and reflects on paypal as the 1st! So, we thought that it may show after 24 hours in our bank account. But alas ....... No!!!
This kind of thing makes one think twice about ordering something from an ebay seller. Not because they wont refund straight away, but because paypal are taking the 'mick'!!!!
