May Bank Holiday - Alton Towers

Hi guys :)

Im trying to organise a trip from glasgow to alton towers but Ive realised the date we were looking at, 31st may, is a bank holiday. Can anyone tell me if the schools down there only get that day off, or do they tend to get some days off around it? Dont want it to be mobbed!

Ta :)

Schools round here, Portsmouth, are off that week and a quick Google search seems to confirm that most of England are the same. Having said that we went to AT for the 1st weekend of the Summer hols last year, expected chaos but it was empty, most of the rides 0 mins :j

They are off all week in England as that is Whitsun week. That said, people often assume these places will be packed because its a bank/school holiday but thats not always the case. We went August bank holiday once and for AT it was very quiet. It was typical British bank holiday weather though - RAIN :rotfl:!!!!

I don't think I've ever done a bank hol, but if you read the answer to the same question on any UK theme park forum, they all agree that they tend to be quieter as people assume they'll be packed, and stay at home.

  • Hey,
We are going to Alton Towers around then and found a site online. It has alton day trips the week after you mentioned - just google "Kinetic Fox" and its the first to come up. (we are going to go on the Wednesday one i think)
