getting rid of companies ringing 4 telesales

Can anyone help me please. I keep having companies ringing me at various times of the day and night trying to sell me things. I have tried leaving the call to go onto an answerphone, but the ringing keeps my baby son awake. I cannot have my phone number made exdirectory as we run a business from home.
I have also tried barring the numbers with BT's "Choose to Refuse" serive, but can only ban 10 numbers at a time. The final straw came today when I had the same company ring 5 times in 10 minutes, even when I told them i was not interested in making a donation to their charity!!!
If anyone could come up with any suggestions of how to get my phone number off these companies lists of numbers, or anything else my son and I would be very greatful.

Well they say about 6 weeks, but i noticed well before that.

I have to say that it didn't work for me, in fact quite the opposite

We used to get the occasional unsolicited call, so I registered with TPS. Strangely since I did so I have received noticeably more calls. Not sure whether this is just an unlucky coincidence, but it certainly didn't do anything for me.

Also registered my mobile, and I still get junk texts

I registered my number with the TPS a few eeks ago, and since then I've had hundreds of calls! I'm sure everyone is calling me now as they know they won't be able to soon. >:(

I registered with TPS and also substituted my landline number for my mobile with all my banks etc. Any companies of which require my telephone number online
I change the last two digits. The reduction in calls is amazing.

Strangely enough, ive done that on websites. I couldnt see any genuine reason for them needing my number so i substitute numbers. I also give fictitious email addys most of the time.

The other solution is to give them Telecom Plus's number they will soon get fed up of waiting for it to be answered.
