When to put an item not recieved claim

Just want some advice as don't want to be pushy but obviously don't want to leave it too late!
Bought an item on the 14th March, said up to 5 days for dispatch and 2nd class postage so wasn't expecting it super fast, however I've heard nothing. I emailed yesterday afternoon. Waiting for a reply, but how long would you wait before putting a claim in? Don't know what the time limit is for when you can? I won it at the starting price so obviously don't know how happy he is with it being won at that.
2nd item I have problems with is a pair of earrings I won, wrong thing (a brooch) ariived, I messaged he said to send back with a note saying what I'd ordered which I sent last Tuesday (also asked politely for cost of return postage in note). Do you think it'd be a good idea to message to check he's recieved it? He doesn't seem particularly on top of things but I don't want to nag either!
And I always thought it was sellers who had to chase everything up:rotfl:

I think you can file a claim after 10 days and before 60 days , but i'm not 100% sure, that could be totally wrong lol.

Wait for a response from your seller before filing a claim, they may well be away from the computer as not everyone checks their Ebay account daily.
In the second situation, yes, contact your seller to make sure he's received the item back, don't worry about 'nagging', you've paid for your item so you should receive it.0 -
I was going to give him a bit longer to respond, just don't know how long is fair - he's a private seller so I figured the 5 days was probably as he worked in the week, so thought if no contact by next monday?
Contacted seller, hopefully I'll get them sometime soon!0 -
We give 14 days usually, regardless of their stated dispatch time. Even if a seller says 7 days (which rarely happens in these days of DSRs) to post, it still shouldn't take a week to get to you.
I'd open the INR now.
ETA: I wouldn't care if he worked during the week, he could post in his lunch hour.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.
