    Most modern waterproof watches can be opened with a pair of needle nosed pliers. Spread the jaws and locate in lugs across the diameter of the watch back and twist off. Works for my animal watch.
    Yes, fine but if you have paid £100 or over for a decent watch, you could easily ruin the appearance if the pliers slip! Much better to buy the actual tool from https://www.watchbattery.co.uk or similar. The one from watch battery co. costs £6.50 . (under tools & accessories) Remember though if you have an expensive watch, that a watch battery fitted by anyone other than an authorised agent nullifies the warranty and also the water resistant factor is no longer valid.
