Help-www.address keeps going into Search MSN.

Grandaughter used my p.c to go into MSN to get her messages.She told me
she failed to get them so i don't know what went wrong.Now when i type a
www. address in it automatically goes to Search.MSN.CO.UK/RESULTS.
and i am also getting a lot of pop-ups which i didn't get before.Has anyone
got any suggestions how to cure it,it would be much apprieciated.

Don't let your g/kids use your computer!!

Sounds like you need some anti pop up software and another program called Spyblaster. I can't remember the links, but, I do have them installed on my computer.

Hopefully, a more technically minded citizen will be able to help you out with the right links to the downloads (freebies!) that you seem to be in need off.

If you haven't got an anti-virus package, there's one here.

Last of all, if you're using Windows XP, a crucial upgrade can be ordered here. It's free.

Am running Win2000 have got Mcafee Anti-virus and Spybot installed. Think it must
be something to do with set up being changed somewhere----not a p.c buff.

You'll still want to try Ad-Aware and Spywareblaster though, even if nasty programs aren't the cause of the problem.

Latest update for Windows 2000 is here. Don't know whether that would be any help though. If you have broadband, you may already have it; better off going here to check.

As for possibly changed settings, don't know what I can do to help from here. Sorry.

Run Internet Explorer and go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Advanced --> (scroll down) set 'Search from the Address bar, When searching' to 'Do not search from the Address bar' --> click OK --> restart IE

That should stop the MSN search kicking in. The pop-ups you're getting are almost certainly caused by the presence of spyware on your computer. Send me a PM if you want full spyware removal instructions.

My suggestions for pop-up blocking would be either:

Google Toolbar
or
Dump Internet Explorer in favour of Firefox
