Redundancy & the Tax Man

Hi,
Last year, between March & May, I was unemployed and on Jobseekers allowance due to redundancy. In May, I secured new employment and am still with the firm I joined now.
A friend of mine mentioned that it's likely that I've paid too much tax over the year because this period of redundancy can affect how much I am supposed to pay and I may be due a rebate.
Is this true? Can anybody confirm my friend's comments as true?
If it is true - What form should I fill out? Where can I get it? Is there someone I should ring?
Thanks all,
Chris W (aka True Mister Six)

should help
Something like this should have happend
You should have given your p45 to the job center.
Not sure but did you get a p60 from the job center for the 2008/2009 tax year?
This year should be OK if you gave the p45 that you got from the job center when you signed off to your new employer.0 -
Thanks for that.
I've had a read and downloaded the form.
I'm not certain I gave the right P45 to my new employer - I'd have to check with finance but I may have given them the P45 from the employer that made me redundant.
Off to finance I go...0
