Hi In my local M & S they were selling off Mulled Wine presumably left over from Christmas for 99p and if you buy 6 you save 10% as well. Dont know if it will be everywhere though.

Is there any sort of Best before Date? I'm assuming no since its wine?0

Just went into one next to my office and there was just 1 left. No price on the shelf and paid £2.29 down from £5.44. Not such a good deal but it is central London.. Too bad there isn't one near my home!
All other Christmas drinks were reduced as well (ale, fortified wines etc). Most already sold out though0 -
Thank you for this. I went to Torquay M&S and they had quite a lot left, and they also had white mulled wine! All at only 99p a bottle. I bought a dozen bottles and got £1.20 as discount of 10%. This mulled wine is lovely, we had some at Christmas and it will keep well until next Christmas.0

Maybe, but you don't have to do the obvious.
I'm hoping I can pick up a load of bottles tomorrow.
What for ? DESSERT !
POACHED PEARS in Red Wine.
Pears need to be a HARD variety like CONFERENCE
Peel pears - LEAVE the STALK ON - remove Core from the bottom - about 1/3rd of the way to remove any seeds.
For 4 to 6 pears
Bottle of Red wine in a pan - 200g sugar, ZEST of 1/2 lemon
(normally you'd add a cinnamon stick or 2 - but given this is MULLED - already spiced with cinnamon at least)
Pears in, bring to a simmer and cook for 60 to 90 minutes until the pears are soft.
Remove pears and BOIL the wine until it's a thick GLOSSY STICKY SYRUP
Serve pears with some syrup poured over ...
...WITH ... Creme Fraiche, Fromage Frais or my favourite VANILLA ICE-CREAM (preferably a Cornish/Devon clotted cream version)
DONE !
And come the summer ? MULLED WINE JELLY
Warm 1 bottle Mulled wine in a saucepan, add 225g (8oz) sugar,
ZEST of 1 Orange and 100ml freshly squeezed Orange JUICE.
Stir until sugar completely dissolved
IF you do get any Surface Scum remove by skimming with a metal spoon
Then into it dissolve GELATIN (follow the gelatin powder/leaves instructions for method & quantity - eg maybe need 8 leaves to a 750ml bottle + 100ml OJ)
Allow to cool a little before pouring into wine glasses/flutes or dishes of your choice
If you wish you can add some fruit like a few RASPBERRIES into the glasses before filling.
Allow to FULLY cool to ROOM temperature before chilling them in the fridge to set.
May need 3 to 4 hours - or just leave overnight (so prepare the day before needed)
Serve with Double Cream or Vannila Ice Cream on top (and a raspberry ?)
YUM !
DONE !
