I'd imagine its possible but you'd need some form of specialist converter from a digital HDMI signal to an analogue one for your old set.
Probably will be very limited with what it can do and completly non-future proof. and not very cheap.
I'd suggest holding off and saving your money until you buy a new TV.... in the interim if you NEED it try and get hold of an old laptop or desktop with an old VGA card and do it that way.
or maybe some form of alternate VGA output hooked up to your laptop....0 -
Hopefully you'll have no need to go looking for a new/old computer.
Even the latest laptops that have HDMI-out usually also have VGA-out (the socket will look like this).
If your laptop does have VGA-out and your TV has VGA-in, just buy a VGA cable (it'll probably need to be male at both ends) and away you go.
If your laptop has VGA-out but your TV doesn't have VGA-in, then this USB-powered gadget from Maplin for £30 will convert the laptop's VGA output to S-video or composite video (the yellow RCA-style connector). Your TV is bound to accept one of those connectors but if not, an adapter like this for £8 (Maplin product code L26AJ)will fix that so that you can connect up to your TV's Scart input.
If your laptop doesn't have VGA-out then you may have a problem. If so, what kind is it? Some Dells have a semi-hidden S-video output which requires a lead that just isn't supplied with the computer but is fairly cheap to buy.
I hope this helps and that I haven't just confused you.0
