"First Report Ltd" searched my credit report

I've just had my free annual report from Callcredit through annualcreditreport.co.uk.

On the searches page, I can see that a company called "First Report Ltd" searched me for a "Checking Credit Application" in August 2009.

I don't ever remember applying for anything around that time last year. They also haven't used my middle name - which I always use on anything financial/official.

Does anyone have any suggestions who this might be?

I changed employers around this time to one who dealt in credit reports (although I was only there 2 days through an agency) but I can't find any link between this company and that employer.

They are a Credit Checking Agency used by companies to check other companies, looking at their web site they also provide a consumer credit checking application.

Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

I've looked back through my documents and can only see one thing that happened on this date - the job agency I mentioned in the OP phoned me and said they might have a job for me on Monday, we'll let you know on Sunday if we need you.

I hadn't signed any papers or agreed to let them do any checks on me.

Would this search be likely to affect my credit rating as it was a "Checking Credit Application" search?

How likely is it that this First Report place will tell me who made the search?

yes, as it was a checking credit application it will be visible to lenders, however, its bearing is unlikely to be that significant unless you've been applying for a lot of credit lately.
