Talk Talk Took My Money. Help Needed Please.

Options
Hi All.

I was a Tiscali customer for the past 3 years until recently when talk talk took over. I got a letter from talk talk in dec/jan stating prices would be going up for my phone/broadband/line package. I phoned up to cancel. I was told that I had taken out a new contract in december for exactly the same amount I was paying anyway with no upgrade! I had not done this! Anyway, i spoke to another team and got told that because i was ex-tiscali customer and because talk talk had put prices up I was being released from new contract. I changed over to sky. 2 weeks ago I got a bill for £240 for cancellation. I disputed this with talk talk and they seem to be dragging their heels. It is so frustrating! Also, i cancelled my direct debit online with my bank and I checked this morning and payment has been taken anyway

What can I do in regrads to the direct debit and getting my money back quickly?

how can i complain to talk talk. is there a hard hitting letter that anyone can write up for me, please?

What should I do? any help is appreciated.

I really need the money as well. i wont be able to make the bills without it :(

Go to your bank and get them to refund the money under the direct debit guarantee. They may try and fob you off, but come back for further advice if they don't budge.

Then write to talktalk and tell them when and how you cancelled and that it was accepted that you had not renewed and that you have claimed your dd back and invite them to justify any further claim on their part.

Keep a copy of your letter for 6 years, because these days any whiff of a possible debt is sold off to debt collecting agencies by companies such as talktalk. It is probably part of the reason why they don't write - so that less paper trail means more disputed accounts which they can sell off.
