Getting paid for Psychology research

Hi - At the moment my university (Plymouth incidentally) is paying £3 per half hour to participate in psychology research projects - mostly PhD and MSc I think.
They're doing them throughout the summer break and I thought I'd let you know so you can find out if maybe your uni, or a uni near where your home address is, are doing the same thing. It's quite intermittent as regards days/times, but it's pretty convenient for me as I can do my own study in the uni library, then nip out for a half hour "break" and get paid £3 for it!
The studies so far have been pretty interesting too (I'm studying physiotherapy myself) and all of them have been simple written or auditory tasks. I'm doing £7.50 worth today, which will pay for my food for a few days!
P.S. They're also happy for non-university people to do them as well, so take along an interested friend/relative!

our uni sends us annoying emails about psychology research all the time - but usually you don't get paid, you get entered into prize draws and the like instead.. pfft.0

That's because you can not officially get paid for research... They can cover expenses, or have prize draws, where everyone 'wins'...April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200

no I've done stuff and not won before.. so it's not that.. most don't even offer to cover expenses here!0

I do these too! Up until a couple of months ago I never really bothered - I thought "its only £3" etc and never looked at the ads, but over the summer when I have more spare time than usual I started doing them, and the money does add up. And sometimes if people are getting near their deadline or really want participants, the money is quite high. Yesterday morning instead of lazing in bed I got up early and was paid £8 for 45 minutes of doing puzzles like deciding if faces were angry or sad - then I headed to the supermarket after and so basically got a few days food for free.
I'd definitely recommend them if you have the time to fit them in, dont just ignore them because of the small amounts some of them pay, though I would if you dont get paid at all - that is harsh! :eek:0 -
Leeds do them too, you can find details here

Normally I get paid about £5 / £10 for an hour study or £15 plus 3 meals a day for three days for a nutrition study ... good money and free food!
