Windsor this Friday

Hello again,

We were planning to go to Legoland this Friday but its working out way too expensive. Does anyone have any cheap ideas for things to do this Good Friday in Windsor? Meeting a friend and toddler there, plus me and my 2, aged 11 and 7. Any ideas would be great as I dont know the area! Are there any hidden treasures other than the Castle and Eton?

Thanks in advance!

  • There is a nice park by the river Alexander Gardens where you can feed the ducks and swans have a picnic and buy an icecream. there is also a Big Wheel which I am sure gives excellent views as the surroiunding countryside is very flat (but I have not been brave enough to try)

Boat trips go from this area and some of them are short enough not to bore children.

There is another park (Home Park) downstream which has a childrens play area and there is a large area behind the Castle (also called Home Park I think) but it is not so good for children.

In the High Street there is a fudge shop which does demonstrations.

Normally one of the attractions in Windsor is changing of the guard but unfortunately it does not take place on Good Friday

The shops aren't too bad so if you go to the the shopping centre of Peascod Street you can buy things for a picnic from Waitrose.
  • I forgot to say if you are coming by car parking can be difficult unless you arrive early.
