do i need income to open basic account

I need to open a basic bank account with co-op or barclays. i will not be having wages or benefits paid into account but making regular cash deposits. Anyone know if they will accept this arrangement.

I'm sure they will accept any type of payment as long as it's legal.

I would recommend Barclays over Co-op. Only one piece of ID is required, details available on the same day, and card/PIN will come within 3 working days.
  • Thanks. called in barclays today and was sent away with application form. told to return it and they will send it off. I explained that my understanding was it could be done at branch. was told its possible but it would take a couple of weeks for an appointment !!!!
