Help with Eon

Options
Please could you give me some advice on letters I received From EON on 29/03/10

What I do not understand is i left EON in August 09 they send me a letter in September saying sorry for the delay with your final bill that was the last I heard from them until yesterday. All the readings are Estimated and at the end of July 09 I was 65p in credit yet about 2 weeks later they estimate I owe them £160.

I would be grateful for any advice you can give me if only to point me in the right direction , we are worried that they will cut us off and as they have given us 7 days to pay before they pass the debt on to debt collectors.

My situation is I am a full time carer for my wife who has a life threatening illness so money is tight.
Many Thanks

When you left E.On, did you supply them with a final meter reading? Did they use that meter reading on your final bill?

If you didn't provide a meter reading, is the final meter reading on the E.On bill the same as the start reading with your new supplier?

  • Yes I did supply EON with meter readings for both Gas & Elec

Npower took over my Account on August 4th 2010 so on July 29 I was 65p in credit August 4th £160 in arrears?
I have checked all my other bills and they were all Estimated apart from one in Dec 08
    Thanks

Are the final meter readings on the E.On bills the same as the Start meter readings with nPower?

You may have not actually been 65p in credit. If that 65p credit balance was based on an under-estimated meter reading, the £160 could be the accurate bill, catching up for the underestimations, as updated by your meter reading when you left.

    Hi steve

Agree with what's already been posted. Make sure the final bill is up to the actual closing meter readings you gave us.

Certainly sounds like a catch up bill. I suspect we had previously under estimated your account and the final bill has now charged accurately.

Give us a call if you are struggling with this. Ask for a payment arrangement to spread the outstanding balance over a more manageable period of time.

Hope this helps, steve. Give me a shout if you need any further help as will be happy to do so.
