I'd recommend the Holiday Inn at Histon. Parking is expensive in Cambridge but probably worth it for convenience. There is a long stay park just above the council offices, currently £3 for 4 hours or £6 for more than 4. It's a bit of a walk into the centre from there but you won't get caught up in complicated one-way systems. You could drive round the backs to drop your son off near Queen's College and then go back to park there. There will be several 'bargain' places to eat if you look for vouchers from this site.

You can currently book 2 nights for the price of 1 on the Holiday Inn site, but a third night will complicate matters! It is showing a price of £70 for 2 nights, room only.

Thanks Winifred, you're tempting me! I was thinking we really need to stay on Sunday night too if we have to be there at 9 am Monday morning, but I can't find mention of the 2 for 1 offer on the website? Perhaps it doesn't apply to peak season?

There is another post giving this link to 2 nights for 1 at Holiday Inns. You can usually book beyond the end date given.

Thanks once again Winifred. Unfortunately it says that the requested rate isn't available for my dates. :(
I'm still sooooo tempted by that pool, though.

Try tapping in your dates and they might work. However they are quite strict on the 2 for 1 and if you wanted 4 nights you would have to do do 2 bookings.

Well, that's interesting. If I put in two nights' stay rather than 4, it allows the discount (apparently, anyway, I haven't gone through to pay for it) despite the fact that my dates are outside the offer period. However it also states that the maximum nights' stay is 2.

I suppose it depends on whether the system will allow it and also whether the offer will be refused when I turn up. Not sure whether to risk it yet.
