You should be able to pick up a form from your student union0

The thing for school/sixth form college students is a NUS associate card not a proper NUS card.
The only way to get a "proper" NUS card is through a student union that is affiliated to the NUS (and has paid the fees to be a member). (Last year there was a lot of debate as to whether our union would remain affiliated, seeing as it costs them about £45,000 per year).
If your Union is a NUS member then they may issue separate NUS cards or you may have a logo on your current University/Union ID card (in Bristol we have one ID card which acts as University ID, Library card, sports pass, and Union card with NUS logo).
If your union is not a NUS member you can't get a NUS card. However you can if you wish get an ISIC - International Student Identity Card - they cost about £7 for a year and are availiable from many places including branches of STA travel (you need a passport sized photo and proof of student status) or mail order from BUNAC. ISICs should be recognised as valid student ID internationally as well as in the UK.

Back in the first week of uni I got mine by going to the students union and paid £1 for the whole year. So far, I've saved a bundle using it (cinema's,clothes shops). :-)0
