I'd also question that website given it suggests "you should never deal with any organisation over the phone without recording the call" making no mention of recordings being useless without actually obtaining permission from the company (I always refused when I worked for O2...)

    HI

Well on Saturday i went to see a car and got back home and placed a deposit over the phone for £100 for a VW Golf 1.8, however iv been thinking about it and the mileage is too much (75k) and even though i knew this at the time, iv since realised that should it need any repairs etc i wont be able to afford it. Im going to see a Polo 2moro at a different dealer which will be alot cheaper to insure and run.

However, legally does the dealer have to give my £100 back, they did say on the phone its non refundable? I dont have the guts to ring so was thinking to email explaining and asking if they can give it back. If not its not the end of the world as the other car would cost more than £100 in insurance alone compared to the Polo,

    thanks

    you are £100 down
so why not phone the dealer and explain your situation
worst they refuse, maybe you will get a discount on the price or they may have another car in
    why the VAG fascination?

They were gona change the cambelt and do a full service before i bought it but i guess these are things they would have to do soon anyway, which is why i have a feeling they wont give it back. I have dropped them a message

I dont really like any other cars which i can afford e.g. Vauxhall/Fiat/Peaugot etc and vw's are reliable!

Used to be true ...but many would now disagree.

A VW Polo (02reg) I managed to trade in recently was the worst/most unreliable car I have owned in years ....never again.
