Hi everyone
I need to make space for my freezer in my utility room as i dont like having it sitting in the kitchen (looks untidy)
I currently have a 2m piece of worktop, i have previously removed a cuboard to make space for the dishwasher.
So there is a end pannel, washing machine, dishwasher, cupboard with sink above & another cupboard against the wall.
Unfortunately the end cupboard is only 50cm wide and the freezer is 55cm. So to enable the space for the freezer i would need to remove the cupboard under the sink & the one by the wall.
I am then planning on putting a wooden support on the wall for the worktop to rest on, as it is currently resting on the units.
Will this be enough suport? will the sink be ok without a cupboard under it?
I'm planning on doing this friday so advice would be greatly appreciated

can you post a photo or a drawing?
its not too clear what you mean. i would have thought that you only need to remove the end cupboard by the wall?
then once youve put up a wooden batten on the wall, itll be ok.Get some gorm.0 -

so as you can see i have removed the cupboard to make space for the dishwasher.
to make space for the freezer i need to move the cabinet under the sink & the one against the wall.
I will then support the work top all the way behind and along the wall, will this be enough or will i need leg supports? or another cupboard?0 -
You do not need the whole cupboard to support the worktop. If you use vertical panels to support the worktop, in conjunction with the batten along the wall they will do the job quite well. You could easily insert one in between the washing machine and the dishwasher and another somewhere to the right of the sink. the sink area. The old sides of the cabinets presumably will not be long enough to use. But a couple of panels of new Contiboard would not cost too much. If you remove the sink unit, what are you going to use to hide the large gap under the sink where the pipe work is exposed.
Alternatively, if you are only looking to gain 4cm then I would think that you could move the sink unit 4cm to the left. This would not involve moving the sink as it is supported by the worktop. That way you can still use the sink unit and its door. I think that if it were me I would do a bit of accurate measuring and see if moving the sink unit is an option.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
