Spare Bed Ideas?

Hi!
I recently moved into a wee 2bed house with my partner and we've finally got rid of the boxes out of our spare room and are looking for some ideas on how to get a bed into the room that we can use for when we have friends over or our nephew visits.
The room is long and narrow and a single bed could fit in jammed against the wall but that would leave no space for my computer chair to be moved out so I'd not be able to use my computer.
I've had a look at getting single sofa beds but I am a bit unsure as to whether or not these are any good (mattress) wise.
Does anyone have any hints or tips on how to solve my problem?
Thanks!

Hello
Saw these at the ideal home show
http://www.deskbed.co.uk/studybed.htm
Great idea and would work perfectly for you, but very expensive..!
We have a very small spare room, just over 5 foot across and long enough to fit a normal length bed plus the door space..
We at first used blow up beds which my parents slept on every time they visited for about 2 yrs.. until they eventually stopped visiting as they were getting old and they aren't the most comfortable, so we got a sofa bed from IKEA like this:
http://www.ikea.com/gb/en/catalog/products/S09840012
You can get them one seaters too.. so a single bed.
I'm not sure about you but we've got a small alcove in our spare room that we.ve got the Computer in, and we've got the sofa bed at the other end so we can sit there watching DVD's or Iplayer.. when the bed is out it takes up the whole room, but its comfy enough!
Hope this helps..

I know a couple of people that have blow up mattresses (from cheap to v expensive) with varying degrees of success. Or could you get (or build) a high sleeper in, with a desk underneath?
Alternatively think about buying a laptop, so you don't need a desk?0 -

What about a folding guest bed?

Ideal for occasional use and very compct to store leaving you with plenty of usable space as a study when you are not using it. Not too expensive either.0 -
I have a similar problem, I need a king-size spare bed, keeping in mind the kind of houseguests I often have (couples with babies who prefer to co-sleep). I am considering getting a futon mattress or mattress topper that can be rolled out when needed, and rolled up and put away later. What do you think - will it be comfortable enough?0

I'd go for a blow up bed, ive slept on them a few times and not had issues. I have one in my guest bedroom. We couldve put a double in but it wouldve looked squashed in so I went for a single bed and just squeeze the blow up bed next to it when needed.0
