Hello,

This may be a very stupid question so apologies in advance..!
Offer has been accepted - I am a FTB. Now what?
I have found the mortgage I want - should I get survey and solicitor at the same time - i.e. now?

    Yes.
    The mortgage lender will arrange a 'valuation' by a surveyor so if you want a more detailed survey it's cheaper to get them to do that at the same time. Talk to them about options.

    Instruct a solicitor. avoid being recommended one by agents. compare quotes carefully (see here)

    The survey will likely as not be arranged by the mortgage provider - they will give you the options for the various types. Get a solicitor next. Don't go with the one recommended by the estate agent but try to get one recommended by someone you know who has found a good one. Once you have engaged a solicitor, they should do all the work from there on. Good luck with it.
