Hi All

This is something that's a bit of a (small) problem, in word association type posts, in Moneysavers Arms..Is there a way to read the reply that gets posted WITHOUT me having to refresh each time, please!!

I sometimes respond to the post that beats me to my answer.

& does that sound as confused to read, as it did for me to type!!??

Thanks in advance

VB

    It did to me :(

I'm not 100% sure why you want to be able to do what I think you are asking for but if it is just to sit on a thread and dream up some snappy response then know if someone has beaten you to it before posting your pearl of wisdom without refreshing somewhere then the answer (with this forum) is no. That somewhere could be an extra tab on the same thread but I don't see any compelling reason why that would be any better than just refreshing the one you are on.

I do hope my response has been as confusing as your question. If not please post a long and rambling question (use my answer as a guideline) then I'll post a short snappy and confusing answer.

I think I forgot to take my medication :(

the only way you could have something refresh like that would be in realtime chat such as a messenger program or an IRC channel. Unfortunately when you download the current thread, that is all you are downloading so any extra content uploaded to the forum server(by another forum poster) will only be downloaded again when you refresh/download the page. I believe it would take a large amount of bandwidth for the MSE forum server to be able to stream threads in the way you are hinting at. and also a different application too.
Just have to hit the refresh button and hope you beat someone to the next answer Im afraid

On some forums if there's another post added while your typing yours it shows it when you press submit. You can then read the reply and choose whether you still want to submit or edit your post before submitting. I guess it depends on the forum software that is being used.
