rent bonds help?

Options
Hi we are a 2 parent family with 3 kids of our own and my teenage brother who lives with me. My partner has been on JSA since sept 08. We live in a 2 bed HA property and we require a larger house, ideally 4 bedrooms. The local authority have informed us we cannot have a 4 bedroom house as they are in huge demand and of short supply. The only option we have is private letting. We cannot afford the bond and 1 months deposit. We have asked the local council if they will help and were told to find a local charity for help. I'm struggling to find one and i don't know if there is any other help available to us? ( our local council is Lichfield staffordshire). Thank you.

Lichfield Council don't yet run their own Deposit Guarantee Scheme, although their Council minutes show that they were discussing the matter in January of this year and that one run by Cannock Chase Churches Housing Coalition isn't accessible to those in the Lichfield area.

Lichfield Council have nevertheless helped some Ts with deposits/advance rent, but it looks as though those were cases of preventing homelessness, rather than dealing with an overcrowding issue , as in your case

It may be worth you contacting Shelter or Crisis - they deal with housing issues other than homelessness. Both have websites.
