Hi all
Can anyone point me in the direction of some good wholesalers? I'm considering starting up an ebay business, along with a website, and have been trying to source goods(not after anything specific), but have had no luck as of yet.
Does anyone have any experience of dealings with wholesalers, good or bad, that could pass me on some information?
Many thanks for taking time to read this

I doubt you'll get many people to give up their suppliers as they would be helping people compete against themselves which would be business suicide0

I thought that might be the respone i would get. Unfortunately i've hit a brick wall. Have searched through endless pages on the internet, through the local yelloow pages etc, all to no avail. Any products I have found(which aren't many), sell for way less than i can get them for! Now i know not all ebayers go for price, they look at seller ratings etc, but the majority of people are looking on ebay for a bargainNorn Iron Club Member 417:beer:0

Sounds like you need to do more research. Find the products you want to sell rather than the other way around. Start with something you know about and find a supplier. The product itself can be a good place to start, there will generally be a manufacturer or importer on the label, you probably won't be able to buy direct but they would probably give you a supplier.sam.wright wrote: »I thought that might be the respone i would get. I could give you a list of wholesalers but it wouldn't do you much good, it takes time to build a relationship and then get them to sell you at the prices they supply other people at. Even then you could source a product, get a decent wholesale price and see it on sale for less in Asda.
Just to add that if you don't know what you are doing its very difficult and a quick way of losing cash quick. You seem to know that just because its labelled wholesale it won't necessarily sell for a profit on Ebay which is part of the battle.
If you can trawl through a lot of the excess that's currently on there, there are often some decent lots on the Ebay wholesale section..0 -
Thanks RFW, some good advice there.Norn Iron Club Member 417:beer:0

you'll also have to be prepared to get stuff shifted asap as before you know it loads more of the same item will pop up on ebay and there's always some moron who is selling at cost and forgot to take their fees in to consideration, generally the ones who also don't register as a business, nobody can compete with that!
Wholesalers are everywhere i'd start small though a family member of mine bought a whole pallet of phones once a few years back and ended up giving them away :eek:0 -
I agree, start small.
I've thought of becoming a "proper" ebay seller in the past - register as a business - buy at wholesale and sell on.
I think if I did it I'd probably set aside a sum of money (like £50-£100) that I'd almost write off. i.e. don't invest money you can't afford to lose. Then see how it goes from there..
I understand this probably isn't always possible for people who want to earn money because they need it, rather than people who are doing it to supplement a main income. As of 24/11/2020
