Hello!
Maybe not the best forum, but you lot always have good ideas...
We are selling our house and I want everything to look immaculate (if possible). I want to make all the metal work in our bathroom shiny.. by this I mean taps, plug holes, towel rail and wire racks..
The wire racks have a bit of rush and the taps some lime scale.. so I am wondering what's best to use?
I was thinking some normal bathroom cleaner followed by something like "silvo" or what ever its called that my mum used to make me clean her silver with! I'm not sure if this is the right thing tho..
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks
Bex

By silver I presume you mean chrome? If so just use some chrome cleaner.
Get the limescale off first with limescale remover.
If your taps are really silver, then I think you can afford to get someone in to clean them...No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
Well silver in colour..
thats why I was wondering if "silvo" would work!
So chrome cleaner is what I'm looking for.. hmm thats a start! .. Ta!0 -
Try white vinegar. Also try a little alcohol.0

For limescale, I use Lime Lite or Viakil. If the limescale is really stubborn just leave it on for a while.
For rust on chrome, try Solvol Autosol - takes a bit of rubbing but it should shift it.For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple and wrong.0 -
For limescale get a cheap paint brush and paint toilet limescale remover on - its thicker than things like Viakal so stays longer to get it off. However be warned - its likely that the limescale will have damaged the chrome finish so you might end up with some of the underlying steel coming through afterwards. Its best to proceed gently and keep washing it off to check how its doing.Adventure before Dementia!0

We have used Cif for making the taps gleam for years. I have not had any limescale to deal with though.

I use an old toothbrush and fairy liquid.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
