Six month billing?

Options
We're just coming up to the end of our first three months in a new property with a new Gas + Elec supplier - EDF, and I've heard a rumour that some companies are now opting for 6 month biloing rather than quarterly, so people are being hit with massive bills "out of the blue" (well, obviously they know that they've got to pay for their utilities at some point...).

Does anyone know which companies are doing this, and if you can request a quarterly bill?

They are not available with tariffs that are paid on receipt of the bill - only on those where you are paying monthly instalments. No sane or poor person is hit with a massive bill. Any normal person who is not very rich keeps an eye on their meters and so knows how much they are spending compared to how much they are paying. It should have no effect on anyone.

Hi philips1971 - The supplier mostly using a 6 monthly billing cycle is n'power, however there are others who adopt this with an 'Opt out to Qtly bills' choice - It's all about reading the terms and conditions

If you pay monthly installments to Atlantic Energy and Gas, then you only get a statement every 6 months

That is now the default, however you can receive quarterly statements if you request them.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
